Shukri Lawrence and Omar Braika founded Trashy Clothing in Amman in 2017, and the label has spent seven years refusing the premise that Palestinian design should be either solemn or derivative. The Y2K register is deliberate — rhinestone trim, loud logo placement, the ogal rendered in velvet — because kitsch, in their hands, is a structural argument about who gets to claim irony in fashion. The name itself is a position. Bella Hadid and Julia Fox have both worn the work, which has expanded the audience without visibly shifting the label's tone.
