EDITOR'S NOTE

Rami Al Ali, Damascus-born and trained in visual arts there, founded his couture house in Dubai in 2001 and has since become the most internationally established Arab couturier of his generation. The work is eveningwear in the classical sense: pleated and beaded gowns, structured tubino silhouettes, illusion necklines, all cut with an emphasis on line over excess. He showed on the Paris couture calendar from 2012 and became the first Syrian designer invited to the official haute couture schedule in 2025; Helen Mirren and Beyoncé have worn the label. What earns him a place here is consistency. The construction is serious, the restraint deliberate, and the result never tips into spectacle.
