L'Afshar
Visit ↗Lilian Afshar started L'Afshar in Dubai in 2013 from a design school prototype — five bags, one idea. The medium is acrylic, and the commitment to it is complete: the clutches sit somewhere between accessory and object, which the 2020 homeware expansion made literal. The Wes Anderson character names — Eugene, Tilda, Philo — are a deliberate signal about the aesthetic register the brand is operating in. The celebrity placements are real and varied enough (Beyoncé, Empress Farah, Anne Hathaway) to suggest the pieces travel across contexts rather than belonging to one styling moment. What's worth watching is whether the acrylic-as-sculpture premise holds as the line broadens into leather and chain styles that look considerably closer to the market around them.
