Ahmed Amer launched amer in Beirut in 2018, and the label has held its line through years when holding any line in that city required real commitment. The range is gender-fluid RTW — hoodies, tulip-cut pants, double-layered shirts — built from a background in interior architecture, which shows in the attention to how a volume sits rather than how it photographs. The ceramics, vases, and cushions sitting alongside the clothing are an unusual structural instinct: treating the brand as an environment rather than a wardrobe. The FTA 2023 RTW prize placed him among the region's more considered voices. The Zaytoun collection name — Arabic for olive — does quiet work that the clothes don't need to explain.
